Honestly, this trip was one of the most beautiful ways for me to close out 2019. Having the opportunity to spend such quality, intimate time with my best friend, a member of my soul family, was more than I could have imagined. We had been intentionally cultivating this friendship for about four years and this vacation exemplified our growth and loving connection. Yes, we’ve visited one another and stayed at each other’s home, but traveling and doing so out of the country is another test and testament to the strength and magnificence of this relationship. It was an important time for us, as our friendship was evolving in deeply healing ways. It was vulnerable, but, I’ll speak for myself, felt safe, and good coming out on the other end of this trip.

I am a firm believer that you can’t travel with everyone! You want to experience ease as you attempt to relax and be able to fully indulge in and enjoy the experience.

I woke up before Dani and put on a pot of coffee. As the smell filled the room, I sat out on the balcony and took in the luxurious site, the mountains emanating from the city rooftops. I couldn’t have asked for a better break.

We packed our bags and took a walk to find a breakfast spot. Cafeteria IncluyeMe was the restaurant we chose. We were, once again, the only patrons at the time. Dani had asked if they could mix some mushrooms and other ingredients she’d seen on the menu, in order to make a filling dish that she could eat.

The streets were relatively quiet, a huge change from what we witnessed the night before. The bus stops, which had lines down the street just hours before, were sprinkled with just a few people.

After returning to the apartment, we thanked our host, called an Uber and headed to the airport. Airport security was a breeze; we put our belongings on a conveyor belt and walked through a metal detector. Dani’s flight departed before mine, so we waited at her gate. When it was time to part, we embraced. I surrendered to the hug so much that I didn’t realize Dani was standing on her tippy-toes the entire time she was wrapped in my arms.

Even though I thoroughly enjoy getting away, it always feels amazingly good to be back in my own bed. I snuggled up around 1am, filled with immense gratitude.

Our 5 day, 4 night vacation wraps up and we head back to the U.S. This was a great international adventure for under $1,000! I spent some time reflecting on the genuine beauty of the time I was able to spend with my best friend and holding gratitude for the ability to manifest this excursion.
